ImageMixer DVD Upgrade: which upgrade is right for me?
By Masaaki Urano
Every day, we receive inquiries on which upgrade version to purchase for the ImageMixer software that comes bundled with digital cameras. A list of available DVD upgrade versions can be found at www.pixela-1.com/imagemixer_dvd.htm. But, before explaining how to find out which upgrade version to purchase, let me explain what DVD upgrade does.
ImageMixer DVD upgrade is software which allows you to burn pictures and movies onto DVD discs. The burned DVDs can be played back on compatible DVD players for easy viewing. It is important to note that in order to use this upgrade version, you need to have the basic version of ImageMixer successfully installed in your computer.
If you have lost or cannot find the basic version, you can obtain a replacement copy from the manufacturer of your camera. Also, needless to say, it is necessary to have a DVD burner in your computer in order to burn DVDs.
How can I find out which DVD Upgrade version is right for my ImageMixer basic version?
STEP 1.Check which basic version of ImageMixer you have. You can find it out by:
- Looking at the CD-ROM that came bundled with your camera.
- Checking help files in the actual application.
ImageMixer comes included in a package such as PicturePackage or FinePix Viewer or Olympus Master. Often, these packages have their own version names. Please note that it is important to find out the version name of the ImageMixer software, not the version name of the package.
STEP 2. After you have found out which basic version you have and have made sure that the basic version is successfully installed in your computer, visit www.pixela-1.com/imagemixer_dvd.htm. Please choose the DVD Upgrade version that corresponds to the version of the ImageMixer Basic you have. For example, if you have ImageMixer Basic version 1.5 for Sony, please choose “ImageMixer DVD Upgrade for Sony Version 1.5”. Please remember that the version names of the ImageMixer Basic and the DVD Upgrade need to match with each other.
Attention to Sony camera users:
If you have ImageMixer Basic version 1.5 for Sony or ImageMixer Basic version VCD2 for Sony, you cannot use ImageMixer DVD Upgrade for Sony version 1.5. In this case, you can purchase ImageMixer 2.0 so that you can burn DVDs. ImageMixer 2.0 can be obtained at http://www.pixela-1.com/faq_sony20/updates.htm.
If you have ImageMixer Basic version 1.5 for Sony DVD disc Handycam, you cannot use ImageMixer DVD Upgrade for Sony Version 1.5. If you have lost ImageMixer for your Sony DVD disc Handycam, please contact Sony at 1-800-488-4966 (United States) or 1-877-899-7669 (Canada). If you live outside of the United Sates or Canada, you can find out contact information by visiting the website of Sony in your home country.
Attention to Fujifilm camera users:
If your camera came with ImageMixer Basic version VCD or VCD2 or VCD/DVD2, the correct DVD Upgrade to be purchased is “ImageMixer DVD Upgrade for Fuji FinePix VCD/VCD2”.
If your camera came with ImageMixer Basic version VCD2 LE, the correct DVD Upgrade to be purchased is “ImageMixer DVD Upgrade for Fuji FinePix VCD2 LE”.

The Future of the Paperless Office
By Mitchell Levine
Years ago I remember reading about the “paperless office.” Somehow the makers of computers, hard drives and other storage types were telling everyone that everything could and would be stored in an electronic format and these records would be safe and easy to retrieve.
Today I realize that this perspective seemed to be more a dream than a forecast of the future.
Those who suggested that everything could be stored on a PC hard drive or another disc drive, never counted on the rapid pace of changing technology. Viruses also seem to impact this idea.
Today computers seem to last only 3 years, floppies have disappeared and CD drives are quickly being replaced by DVD drives. Media or disc types and drive speeds are also changing, not to mention operating systems, and this all means that if you save information in any electronic format that you better also save it one or two other formats so that it is truly safe and easy to retrieve.
A good option today seems to be CD/DVD storage. It is removable, easily created, and a CD can store almost half of a gigabyte of information. This may explain when you walk in Walmart or CVS you see stacks of CDs and DVDs for sale. They are great for saving valuable information, photos, music, videos, or for backup copies of programs. But if you are like me you now have unmarked CDs loose in every drawer and have no clue what’s on most of them, or maybe you have neatly placed them in a CD holder with a folded sheet of paper with the contents of each disc. Somehow there has to be an easy, practical and economical way of marking each disc with its contents.
Then I discovered ImageMixer LabelMaker just over a year ago, and it has changed my life, or at least part of it. I am pleasantly surprised when I find products that are easy to use and professional results. ImageMixer LabelMaker takes plain white labels (Avery #) and enables anyone to create beautiful labels, with either your own pictures/graphics or from thousands of designs/graphics included with the program. I found it so easy to make the disc contents appear either running around the disc or horizontal stacked on one side of the disc. And when I recently burned a music disc LabelMaker made it easy to retrieve artist and other music details from a online connection so that I could make a play list.
Gone are the days of unknown/unmarked discs that I wonder what’s on them. Now, in minutes each time I back-up files, burn a music disc, or create a photo archive, I create a label, I often do it as I create the disc. I love how easy and quick it is. Since I have been telling my friends of the fun I had, they said show us, so I did. Instead of just sending out a one page letter recapping the events of the year I created a photo slide show and even created the jewel case insert. Several called and asked who made it for me, as they thought I had it professionally made. They were amazed that I did it and even more amazed that it took less then an hour to assemble the photos, select and obtain the background music and put it all together and create a photo CD label with a poem and the jewel case insert with the photo collage from the disc contents with the edge title “LEVINE 2005.”
This product will provide you with hours of fun and will save hours of stress and time looking for that important information that you know you saved it but can not find anywhere.
I recommend this product as a strong buy.
