What
should I do when my camera is not recognized?
Please try rebooting Windows or reconnecting the device.
back
Even though there is enough available hard disk space, why can't I
write compiled videos?
You cannot write files over 4GB.
If the drive in which your Windows OS is installed does not have
enough available space, you cannot write because necessary temporary
files used for writing cannot be generated. Please make sure the
drive in which Windows is installed has enough free space before
writing.

When my camera is connected by USB, the PC freezes and the screen
becomes dark.
Update the driver of your PC's graphics board or sound board to the
latest version.
You should be able to download this update from the website of your
PC manufacturer, or graphic board or sound board manufacturer.

When playing or recording a movie, the sound is out of sync and the
image is jumpy (skips frames).
Check whether the PC you are using meets the ImageMixer
Specifications.
If it does meet the Specifications, try the following solutions:
Solution 1
1: Open the Preferences on the [Import] screen of the [USB] mode.
2: Switch the preview type from [TYPE1] to [TYPE2] on the [Import
Preferences] screen.
If Solution 1 does not work:
Solution 2
1: Update your PC's sound driver to the latest version.

I connected my camera via USB and started up ImageMixer, but the
message [Deck not connected] appears, and the camera is not
recognized.
* Check the USB cable connection.
* Check that the driver is correctly installed by viewing the Device
Manager.
* Try removing any other USB peripheral devices.
* If you are using a USB hub, try connecting the PC and camera
directly.
* Check whether the version later than DirectX8.0a is installed.
Steps in checking your DirectX version:
1. Select [Start] - [Run].
2. Enter "dxdiag" and click [OK]
3. The [DirectX Diagnosis Tool] is displayed.
4. Check the DirectX version from the [System Info] option in the
[System] tab, and perform one of the following functions:
If the version installed is earlier than DirectX8.0a:
From the [Add and Remove Programs] (or [Add and Remove
Applications]), uninstall ImageMixer, and make sure to install
ImageMixer from the CD-ROM after installing DirectX8.1.
If the version installed is later than DirectX8.0a:
From the [Add and Remove Programs] (or [Add and Remove
Applications]), uninstall ImageMixer, and reinstall it from the
CD-ROM.

Why is the video quality poor when I capture video through the USB
port using Pixela's ImageMixer software?
Due to technical
constraints of the USB format, the video quality you can capture is
only MPEG-1. In order to capture the highest quality video, we
suggest you use the IEEE 1394 port on your camera. You will need a
IEEE1394 port on your PC as well as an appropriate cable and the
ImageMixer software.

The fonts appear in codes after
I installed the ImageMixer software.
This might be caused by a font allocation
between Imagemixer and another program in your computer.
The first option we can advice you to do in order to rectify
this font problem is this:
- If 'Adobe Type Manager' is not installed in your computer,
download and install the
'Adobe Type Manager' (ATM light) from Adobe's website.
- Start the Adobe Type Manager program. Select 'Symbol' font
from the list, and click the delete button.
- Again, select the 'ZapfDingbats' font and delete it.
- Start ImageMixer and check. The fonts should work fine.
If the above doesn't work out, then please check:
- 1. That the PC spec meets the full requirements to run
the ImageMixer application.
- That the ImageMixer was not installed in a removable (or separate)
disc. Which might cause the files to be scattered in between
discs during installation. (And that the software was installed
using Administrator authority for Windows 2000 & Windows
XP users.)
- That the USB drivers were installed correctly
during installation. (Please check that there is no question
mark on any of the drivers in your Device Manager panel.)
You can check this by Selecting “Start” -> “Control Panel”
-> “System” -> “Hardware” tab -> and click on “Device
Manager” button. (This process may vary according to your
OS so please make reference to your camera manual on how to
check/delete USB driver)
- That the language chosen during
installation process was the correct one you wished to install.
- That the language you chose during installation is compatible
with the OS you are running. Example: If the OS language of
your PC is in Italian and you chose English for language selection
during installation, there could be a font problem when running
the software. To check your OS language set up please go to
Start Menu -> Set up -> Control Panel -> Regional
Settings -> and check the tabs telling which language your
OS has been generally set to
- That you have set the screen
resolution and screen display to the required levels. Or you
can increase the screen resolution and screen size of your
PC. This can be done by going to your control panel, double
click the screen icon, click the set up tag and adjust the
screen resolution to True Colors and size to 1024x768 Pixels.
- That there is no other movie (MPEG) editing software that
might be conflicting with the ImageMixer software causing
the fonts to show up in codes.
- That there is no translating
software in the OS system that might be messing up with the
languages during installation and when running the program.
- That you have the necessary basic font need to run the program
(Please check that you have the “MS Sans Serif” font installed
in your OS.)
If the above did not work out, there could be something incompatible
with the OS you are using. Maybe you upgraded the OS in the
past causing some changes in the font display of the OS. Or
Upgrading the OS from a Windowsdows 98 or Windows 95 machine
(both of which do not reach the requirement of the software),
to a later version (windows 98 SE or later). Though the OS
in after upgrading is OK, the machine itself (CPU, Graphic
board, soundcard, fonts etc) runs on the old platform, which
might also cause the font display problem.

I would like to reinstall the ImageMixer software. What should I do
with image files I have already created and are still on my hard
disk?
For Windows
Since you will have to first uninstall
(remove) the ImageMixer software from your PC before reinstalling,
it is safe to first go to (HDD)-(Program
Files)-(Pixela)-(ImageMixer) folder. Then copy the (Capture)(Convert)(Userdata)
folders from the ImageMixer folder to a different location. If you
had saved files in a folder different from that created by the
ImageMixer application, you will have to do the same and copy the
files to a different location.
After reinstalling the new ImageMixer, you
then copy your files/folders into the new ImageMixer folder and you
can be able to use your images and pictures again.
For Macintosh
Copy the (Capture)(User
Data)(Album library) (Convert) folders found within the ImageMixer
folder to a different location. If you had saved files in a folder
different from that created by the ImageMixer application, you will
have to do the same and copy the files to a different location.
After reinstalling the new ImageMixer, you then copy your
files/folders into the new ImageMixer folder and you can be able to
use your pictures and images again.

Error message
in XP when installing
the software and drivers.
This is one of many Win XP warning signs. The
message usually states that it is highly not recommended to install
the present software as it is has not passed the Windows logo test
and that if the user installs it, the program might mess up their
system.
ImageMixer is a highly classified application
and has been thoroughly tested on all windows platforms including
Windows XP and there has been no problem with the software running
on Win XP OS. If you are new to Win XP and have come across that
kind of warning message for the first time, continue installing the
software by clicking the "Continue anyway" button.

"Illegal error operation.
program will be shut down. Please contact program vendor"
error
The "illegal operation" could cover a wide
range of errors not necessary caused by ImageMixer.
The most common causes of an illegal operation
include a conflict between ImageMixer and another software or a
different USB driver in the system; or a memory-management problem
between ImageMixer and another application running in the
background. Many of these types cause illegal operation errors.
The System File Checker and Dr. Watson
utilities included in Windows 98 might help you to track the source
of your problem. To find these programs, go to the Start menu, then
to Programs, Accessories and System Tools. Open the System
Information program and look under the Tools menu to find the
utilities.
The System File Checker can restore damaged
system files, while Dr. Watson records what your computer was doing
when it crashed and may offer suggestions as to why.
Also check the Microsoft Web site at
support.microsoft.com/search. And search for "illegal operation," to
have more ideas of the problem. Solutions will vary depending on the
PC's condition.

"imagemix.exe
application error" memory could not be read. Instruction 0x00401c2c
- memory address 0x698AB58E.
These are called "Stop Messages". STOP
Messages 0x00000 are related kernel problems that are caused when
the operating system attempts to load a page into memory from the
paging file on the hard drive, but is unable to access the page, due
to either a software or hardware failure. The system generates a
fault, which indicates that invalid system memory has been
referenced.
This fault can occur due to many varieties of
error conditions, such as a boot virus in the PC, a conflict with
another software, or faulty hardware (typically a defective RAM). A
faulty CD ROM drive, Disk acceleration utilities in the Hard Drive,
Bad sectors (partitioning) in the hard drive. Etc.. In these 0x00
errors, if the scan disc utility cannot correct the problem, then
the cause can be more complex than imagined. You would have to check
the PC manufacturer for advice on the particular error.

ImageMixer always disappears when
double clicking the capture environment button
If you have been downloading images to a
removable disk, then there is a high probability that the path set
in the capture environment preferences is still pointing to the
removable disk. If this disk is unplugged, or is not connected to
the PC, and run ImageMixer, when you click on the capture
environment button, the software searches for a place to save files
that will be captured. When the path to the removable disc is still
present in the preference set up but the disc is not connected to
PC, then IM searches, reaches a dead end and quits automatically
because the place to save captured files has vanished. My advice is
to make sure the removable disk is accessible from PC before running
IM. By doing so, IM successfully find the removable HD when the
capture mode button is clicked.
It would be better also to change the path
where ImageMixer will be saving captured files and images to the
original Capture Folder found inside the ImageMixer folder. This is
the default path set when IM is installed into all PCs. If the path
to this folder is not changed, IM can work fine. So you can advice
the user to use the default "Capture" folder to save images and then
manually copy images from this folder to the removable disk.

Cannot access the Capture environment
a) This problem is caused because you might
have removed the Capture and Convert folders from their original
position. The PC still keeps position of these folders in memory
from the installation process. What I can advise you is to uninstall
the software using the Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
Then go to the Program Files folder and delete the Pixela folder
manually. Then go to the data in the Installshield folder and delete
the folder containing the ImageMixer install content data ( the
folder is named like: "{13413C6C-C640?c?c."}.. By deleting this
folder, the PC now has no memory that ImageMixer was ever installed
in the machine. Then restart the PC and reinstall the ImageMixer
software. It should be OK.
b) If however, the above doesn't work, then
when the SAVE AS dialog box appears, choose capture folder as option
and continue. This could cause ImageMixer to create a new caption
folder where to store new images. Do the same for the environment
Convert folder too.

CRC error: the file c:\program

Cannot print images; Cant print

From the album environment, select thumbnail

the print layout setting window, click the printer icons on the
lower right. Here you will be able to choose your printer, adjust
printer setting and paper size.
If you cant print in certain sizes set on the
imagemixer (example 4x6), then your printer does not support those
sizes. What the software does is to send the data fed to it to the
printer. So if the printer setting are not in line with the
software, some problems will arise. Please check the setting of you

I want to burn my edited file/movie
to CD. I need to copy (write) files to CD.
To be able to write or copy to CDs. First you
need a CD - ROM that is capable of writing data to CDs. These are
called CD-R or CD-RW Drive. Recently most PCs come with CD-R or CD-RW
ROM drives. If your PC only has a CD - ROM drive, then you will need
to buy one.
Secondly, you will need a software to use for
writing or burning data to disk. ImageMixer does not have that
function. (The ImageMixer VCD/DVD does.) With the writing/burning
software installed, you will have to configure the software (in the
software preferences) to use the CD-R drive on your PC as the drive
to write and burn CDs and at what speed etc. After all this is done,
he can be ready to burn/write CDs, music or data, by drag and drop.

If the above doesn't work out, please try out
the option below:
First you need to find out the exact symbol
font ImageMixer is using and remove this font from the Font folder
to a different location but do not delete it. This will force
ImageMixer to choose the correct font next time it is started. Other
font folders are located in places such as Acrobat Reader or
ACROREAD. Also, there may be hidden font files. So, when you find
strange fonts that your ImageMixer is using, remove these fonts plus
hidden fontfiles to a different location. entire PC including hidden
files.
Also, some PCs have several versions of
Acrobat reader, so we recommend you to delete all Acrobat Reader
programs, reboot PC, re-install the ImageMixer software and then
download and install the latest version of Acrobat Reader from Adobe
website.
We highly recommend not to completely delete
you symbol fonts from your PC, but move them to a different location
within the PC. They might be of use to other application.
